Declan Murray, the company’s Managing Director is a Commerce graduate of University College Dublin and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst and Young in Dublin.  He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.Declan has a long association with BBA Ireland going back as far as 1990 when he first became involved with the company through Ernst & Young.  He joined the company in 1999 taking over from predecessor Frank McNulty on his retirement.  Declan led the negotiation of the management buyout of the company in 2000 and also oversaw the acquisition and integration of the Curragh Bloodstock Agency Limited in 2005.As well as general management, corporate finance and accounting expertise, Declan is recognised as one of Ireland’s foremost experts in taxation and financial planning within the bloodstock industry.

We can also advise you on significant one-off sale or purchase transactions to ensure that they are concluded in the most financially efficient manner.

Specific VAT Services
We also provide value for money services in cross border VAT transactions for Irish flat rate farmers, be it on the purchase or sale of stock.
·       When buying bloodstock from the UK we can save you 15.2% of the overall VAT cost.
·       When selling bloodstock for export we can obtain the Farmer’s flat rate 5.2% addition for you if you qualify for it.

Likewise we can save money for Irish owners of horses in training in the UK.
·       If you have a horse in training in the UK we can save you the UK VAT of 20% on training fees.

Nicola Behan CPA
Financial Controller
Nicola has been with BBA Ireland since 1994, having previously worked within the paper manufacturing industry. She qualified as a member of Accounting Technicians Ireland in 1998 and went on to further qualify as a Certified Public Accountant in 2001.

Nicola is responsible for and oversees the various aspects of the day to day running of the company’s accounts function across all departments as well as providing accounting support to many overseas clients. Over the years she has developed expertise in cross border VAT transactions within the bloodstock industry.

Ines Malone
Bloodstock & Administration Executive
Ines joined BBA Ireland in 2005 having come on board from the Curragh Bloodstock Agency which she joined in 1979.

Ines’s father was the well known racehorse trainer Paddy Norris who trained the winner of both the Irish Grand National and The Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot among his many winners. Ines’s grandfather Frank Vickerman also had the distinction of owning Cottage Rake the winner of three Gold Cups when trained by Vincent O’Brien.

Ines has been involved in the bloodstock Industry all her life and being married to Turf Club Official Pat Malone Ines’s love of racing is fulfilled as she travels all around the country to the various meetings whenever possible.
She provides her expert support to all departments and particularly to all the Bloodstock Agents.

Martina O’Hora
Accounts Executive
Martina joined BBA Ireland in 2005 also from the Curragh Bloodstock Agency which she joined in 1981.

Throughout this time she has developed a wide and varied knowledge of general accounting. Her particular speciality is transport job costing and credit control but she is also fully involved in the day to day wider accounting function as well as providing accounting support to overseas clients.
