We provide the full range of cover available for thoroughbreds and non-thoroughbreds from foals to yearlings to stores to racehorses, both on the flat and over obstacles, to Stallions and Broodmares.  We can provide cover for horses, at grass, breaking, flat racing, hurdling, steeple-chasing, breeding and at Stud.

Offering competitive rates is obviously important, however we are only as good as our last claim and how we handled it for you. Our record in this area is first class and our claims handling record speaks for itself.  In recent years, when one of the smaller European underwriters went into liquidation, we were the only Irish brokers to not alone honour unexpired policies but also to pay out on unsettled claims.

We treat all horses we insure as equally important, we are not just focused on the high value thoroughbred. The vast majority of the horses we insure are not household names and are not highly valuable in a monetary sense. We provide policies for the thoroughbred and non thoroughbred alike, including Eventers, Hunters, Ponies, Hacks, etc.

We also provide policies designed to protect you, the owner. Our Sport Horse package not only protects against the financial loss of a horse or pony but can also protect you personally against liability arising from the horse or pony, personal accident to you the rider and the loss of saddlery & tack, life saving surgery etc.

We provide a personal, prompt and efficient service. We all have a personal interest in horses which enables us to give you a very personal service and the benefit of a comprehensive knowledge of the bloodstock industry.

Natasha  has enjoyed more than twenty years experience in the bloodstock insurance industry.  Starting out with the original Curragh Bloodstock Agency in 1990, she remained with the enlarged company when CBA and BBA Ireland merged in 2005.  She was appointed Director of Insurance in 2006 and took over responsibility for the insurance end of the business from the late Caroline Wilson shortly thereafter.  There is nothing about the insurance of bloodstock that Natasha does not know, she has experience of dealing with all the leading bloodstock insurance underwriters at Lloyds. The company’s client list for bloodstock insurance is a who’s who of the thoroughbred bloodstock industry and is truly global.

Natasha is a keen racing fan of both Flat and National Hunt.

Carmel Quinn
Insurance Executive
Carmel has a Degree in Equine Science from the University of Limerick and a Professional Diploma in Insurance (CIP) from the Insurance Institute of Ireland. During her studies, Carmel spent over 10 years working with Sport Horses and also has hands on experience of working on a large Thoroughbred Stud Farm.  Carmel joined BBA Ireland  in 2004 and deals with both clients and horses worldwide, on a daily basis.

The majority of business placed is underwritten by Lloyds of London underwriters Amlin plc, an A rated insurance company.  All policies are subject to policy terms, conditions and exclusions and are subject to standard declaration of health or veterinary certificate requirements as applicable.

All insurance business is undertaken by our insurance subsidiary, Curragh Bloodstock Agency Limited which is regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland.
