The BBA Ireland Transport Office offers a fully comprehensive door to door transport service for your horse, whether it’s your family pony or the favourite for the Epsom Derby, Melbourne Cup, Arlington Million, Joe Hirsch Turf Classic or even your covering stallion shuttling to Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina or Brazil.For your runner, we specialise in private charters, MD11 or 747 diverts along with scheduled service aircraft so that your horse’s journey to and from the racetrack is as efficient and stress free for him and his owner’s pocket as we can possibly make it.Alternatively, you may wish to take your horse to the racetrack yourself, if so, we can also help you with this and will make all necessary Ferry, Health & Customs, Stabling and on site track arrangements necessary.BBA Ireland are proud to work with the greatest racing and breeding operations in the world. We have had the great privilege to take some of the true greats to the racetrack such as Vintage Crop, Royal Academy, Media Puzzle, Finsceal Beo, Joshua Tree (twice to win the Canadian International) all the way through to an amazing 2011 with ‘Our Queen’ Snow Fairy winning in Japan, Lightening Pearl in Newmarket, Rock Jock in Chester, a record breaking Group 1 double in Arlington 2011 with Cape Blanco (pictured below) and Treasure Beach both winning and all of Cape Blanco’s other amazing achievements in the US. We were very proud to be there for all of them.

Above all, BBA Ireland are the leading operators in co-ordinating Southern Hemisphere Shuttle Stallions movements from Ireland.

We specialise in breaking new ground for and with our clients and we have been at the forefront of international health and trade negotiations for over half a century so that Irish stallions reach the countries they need to in a seamless fashion.

BBA Ireland have personnel based at all major sales such as Tattersalls, Goffs, Arqana, Doncaster, Saratoga and Keeneland. We offer full and competitive transport rates to all sales, and also from fall of hammer to the final destination after purchase. We are council members of the Racehorse Transporters Association, the International Animal Transportation Association and work closely with the Irish Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, thus ensuring that we are at all times at the cutting edge of changes in international legislation for the movement of horses.

Ann has enjoyed over two decades in the horse transport industry. Starting with the Curragh Bloodstock Agency in 1990 and spending five years with Horse France Ireland Ann has been with the BBA Ireland for over 10 years. She is actively involved in the day to day running of the BBA Ireland Transport Office and overseas the company’s shipments throughout the world.

Caroline Hanly
Shipping Executive
Caroline’s interest in horses started at home on the family stud farm. A graduate of the University of Limerick, Caroline was always going to follow her heart and joined the BBA Ireland in 2010. Caroline came to us with an extensive knowledge of and experience in the bloodstock transport industry. In addition to client co –ordination and day to day operations Caroline also regularly accompanies private charter shipments around the world.

Ian, South African Champion Apprentice in 1962 moved to Ireland in 1967 and begun his career of as a Professional Flying Groom. His wealth of knowledge and experience is unparalleled.

Colm Sharkey
UK Office
Colm has been involved in the racing industry for over 10 years. He commenced as an amateur jockey/ pupil assistant for Philip Hobbs before turning professional, based primarily in the North of England riding for Ferdy Murphy and others. In 2006 he returned to full time education at the University of Limerick graduating with a degree in Business Studies and Marketing. He combined his studies with race-riding as an amateur jockey for Charlie Swan. In 2011 he went on to graduate from the BHA programme which included a placement with British Bloodstock Marketing before joining the BBA Ireland/Curragh Bloodstock Agency in the Newmarket Office in September 2011.
