DATA PROTECTION POLICY
Curragh Bloodstock Agency DAC trading as BBA Ireland Bloodstock Insurance, processes data in line with the provisions of the Data Protection Acts 1988 to 2018. Your personal data is collected to provide the highest standard of service to you. The information you give us may include your name, home address, contact address, e-mail address and phone number, bank account details and credit card information.
Information supplied is kept secure, is used only for legitimate purposes in our activity as an insurance intermediary and is retained for no longer than is necessary, subject to any regulatory rules regarding record maintenance. Debit and credit card information is retained only for the duration of the transaction.
By providing us with your information and proceeding with a contract of insurance, you consent to all your information being used, processed, disclosed, transferred and retained for the purposes of insurance administration, including underwriting, processing, notification of potential claims, claims handling, collection of debt, data analytics and fraud prevention. Please note that in some cases if you do not agree to the way we process your information, it may not be possible for us to continue to offer services to you. We cannot give any advice in relation to your own obligations in respect of data protection legislation. We recommend that where necessary you seek independent advice on how data protection legislation affects you/your business. We do not share information about you with any third parties, other than those necessary for legitimate purposes of insurance administration, including underwriting, processing, notification of potential claims, claims handling, collection of debt, data analytics and fraud prevention. When you request a quotation from us you may receive a telephone call or e-mail in relation to that quote. There may also be requirements to contact you for the purposes of discussing renewal terms of an existing policy with us or any other query directly related to an existing policy with us. You may have entitlements under legislation to inspect all personal information held on file by the Company and to have inaccuracies in that information corrected. Subject access requests for specific information should be sent to the Data Protection team at our Dublin office. There is no fee for such requests. Customer service is important to us and we aim to resolve all complaints as quickly as possible. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 business days. We shall investigate the complaint as swiftly as possible, and, the complainant will receive an update on the complaint at intervals of not greater than 20 business days starting from the date on which the complaint is made. On completion of our investigation, we will provide you with a written report of the outcome. If you are still dissatisfied with our handling of or response to your complaint, you are entitled to refer the matter to the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman, contact details are shown in our Terms of Business.

The Data Protection Act 2018 and the GDPR are the laws that set out various obligations on us (as data controller) and rights for you (as data subject).
They also set out the powers and responsibilities of the DPC. If you have a concern that we failed to follow the law or uphold your rights, the guidance below should help you make a request to us or make a complaint to the DPC, if we fail to comply with your request.

Data protection law governs situations where personal data are ‘processed’. Processing basically means using personal data in any way, including; collecting, storing, retrieving, consulting, disclosing or sharing with someone else, erasing, or destroying personal data. We are also the processors of your data.
We have a range of obligations under data protection law, and in particular must comply with the principles of data protection, as found in Article 5 GDPR, ensuring personal data are: processed lawfully, fairly and transparently; processed for specific purposes; limited to what is necessary; kept accurate and up to date; stored for no longer than necessary; and protected against unauthorised or unlawful processing, accidental loss, destruction, or damage. We must also be able to demonstrate compliance with these principles, under the principle of accountability.
The legal justifications for the processing of your personal data are consent and contractual necessity.
Your rights under the GDPR include: the right to be informed if, how, and why your data are being processed; the right to access and get a copy of your data; the right to have your data corrected or supplemented if it is inaccurate or incomplete; the right to have your data deleted or erased; the right to limit or restrict how your data are used; the right to data portability; the right to object to processing of your data; and the right not to be subject to automated decisions (which you are not) without human involvement, where it would significantly affect you.
Information provided to you when these rights are exercised must be transparent, understandable and easily accessible, using clear and plain language. The information should be provided in writing, or other means, including, where appropriate, electronically.
